Mercedes SmithLibi LebelOn Sunday, November 16 at 5 PM, the Doctors Orchestra of Houston will give a concert called “An American in Paris” at Wortham Center’s Cullen Hall.  This concert will recognize the Sunshine Kids Foundation and the good work that it does, and some of the proceeds will directly benefit the Sunshine Kids.

Doctors Orchestra concerts are listener friendly and especially suited for families who wish to expose their children to high quality live performances of classical music in a major concert hall and at a convenient time of day.  Tickets are $10 and $20 and can be purchased online at www.DoctorsOrchestraHouston.org or at the door.

The program will include Gershwin’s ever-popular suite, “An American in Paris,” the sparkling concerto for flute and orchestra by French composer Jacques Ibert, and the beautiful Symphony in C by Georges Bizet, best known for having written “Carmen.”  The soloist in the Ibert concerto will be Mercedes Smith of the Houston Ballet Orchestra .  Maestra Libi Lebel, founder and musical director of the Doctors Orchestra, will conduct.
