In 2000 , Russian-born pianist and conductor Ubi Lebel founded the Doctors Orchestra of Houston, a group composed of 80 musicians whose alter egos range from surgeons to medical secretaries.

Email HOUSTON (Nov.13, 2006) – The Doctors Orchestra of Houston (www.DoctorsOrchestraHouston.org) kicks off its 2006 to 2007 concert season with Strings in Motion, Sunday, November 19 at 5 p.m. in the Cullen Theater at Wortham Center. Featuring principal harpists Paula Page with the Houston Symphony, Jeanne Norton with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, and Catherine Barrett with the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra, the concert will benefit Family Services of Greater Houston. The program includes Coriolanus Overture by Beethoven; Knights of the Red Branch, a triple harp concerto by Kaska; Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun by Debussy; and Symphony No. 2 by Borodin.

Every year Bridgeway Charitable Foundation awards grants that assist a broad array of organizations and causes in the United States and abroad.

Love is in the Air , benefiting Hadassah, a Jewish charity that focuses on women’s Health. The concert, held in the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center, will feature Houston’s leading Mariachi band, Mariachi Los Gallitos. The program will feature a collection of romantic favorites including Moon River, My Funny Valentine, Embraceable You, April in Paris and other selections by George Gershwin, Leroy Anderson and Richard Rogers.

Email HOUSTON—The Museum of Health & Medical Science will continue celebrating its Show of Hands exhibit with a special concert August 19 at 3 p.m. Doctors Orchestra of Houston, the newest community orchestra in the United States having its origin in the health professions, will present a chamber music program at the museum 1515 Hermann Drive. In addition to the musical program, Houston hand surgeon Dr. David Hildreth will discuss the dexterity involved in playing musical instruments.
